A seasonal concert featuring Zambra women's vocal group, the CMS Teen Band, and Shelley Phillips & Deby Benton Grojean.
Welcome in the winter with rarely-heard seasonal songs and tunes from cold Celtic lands and beyond!
Zambra is a small woman's vocal group that sings original arrangements of global music with a radiant harmonic blend. Based out of Santa Cruz, Zambra has performed throughout the Monterey Bay Area and has collaborated with Karl Schaffer's MoveSpeakSpin dance company, National Public Radio “math guy” Keith Devlin, the Cór Ainglí Irish-Gaelic Christmas Choir, and Moroccan master musician Fattah Abbou.
In Community Music School's Celtic Teen Band, youth ages 13-17 learn to play in ensemble, developing musicianship, flexibility and musical creativity. The band meets with artistic director Shelley Phillips to arrange music from Ireland, Scotland, Brittany, Scandinavia and more.
Multi-instrumentalist Shelley Phillips performs and teaches music internationally. She is an artist on the Gourd music label and director of Community Music School of Santa Cruz.
Violinist Deby Benton Grosjean is a highly sought-after performer and instructor. As a Celtic fiddler she combines the precision of classical technique with the freedom of traditional music.
