Jesse Autumn - Harp
Jesse Autumn is a musician, artist and writer living in New Orleans and Santa Cruz. She’s a singer/songwriter in the realm of dreamy chamber ballads, and also composes instrumental music, arranges world music for harp ensembles, paints miniature paintings, and writes non-fiction. She plays double-strung harp, pedal harp, piano, harpsichord, and piano accordion, and has been teaching harp and piano since 1999. She has performed as a guest artist on 20+ recordings, and released three albums of Celtic and world music, two recordings of original songs with string arrangements by Grammy-winner Barry Phillips, and one instrumental “soundtrack” of 31 tracks written over the course of 31 days. Her compositions have been used in film and contemporary dance, including performances in Finland, Estonia, Mexico, and the US. She has worked extensively with arts organizations and galleries in both artistic and administrative positions, including the Tannery Arts Center, Artspace Projects USA, Community Music School, the Santa Cruz Institute of Contemporary Arts, Apricity Gallery, Radius Gallery, Felix Kulpa Gallery, 418 Project, and the Dead Cow Gallery & Recording Co-op. She served as artistic director of the Santa Cruz Harp Festival from 2003-2016, and is a faculty teacher at all of CMS’s music camps. Jesse is currently writing a non-fiction book about her time living at the Kron House, a prolific artistic collective that existed on the campus of the Tannery Arts Center prior to and during its construction. She has produced concerts and art shows for many years, enthusiastically celebrating creativity in many forms. When she’s not playing music, she can often be seen in pretty dresses, riding her bicycle around New Orleans or Santa Cruz.
